Cutie & Ugly

December25th

Christmas morning started off like any other day. Wake, feed, change diaper. We had already met up with the family on Christmas Eve, and didn’t have any official plans for the 25th. By noon, after our Tofurkey lunch, we started to feel a bit restless and asked ourselves, “What’s open on Christmas day?” Besides every forum stating that all Chinese food restaurants were open, along with the 7-Elevens, Kwik-E-Marts and gas stations, none of those stops would satisfy our need for a change of scenery. Disneyland was next on the list, then I started to imagine the lines of children pumped up on sugar-plums, candy canes and other sweetened confections, and that idea started to lose its appeal very quickly. Finally, we decided to go for a walk through Griffith Park.

The air was crisp, as the sun started to descend behind the hill. We made sure not to forget Noah’s hat and blanket this time, lest we run into a pediatric nurse or some other presumptuous big mouth who might persecute us for being irresponsible parents. We walked a trail for about an hour, took pictures of our little bear and on our way out of the park, drove through the lamest display of Christmas lights we had ever seen. Besides the ridiculous promotions of Los Angeles utilities, the lights looked as if it was thrown together for a grade school project. There was no depth or relevance to Christmas. I’m glad we didn’t drive all the way over just to see it.

Anyway, that’s about it for Baby’s first Christmas. Happy New Year everyone!!!
