We took Disneyland by storm, well, Noah tried to anyway, exploring corners that we had never seen before like Tom Sawyer’s Island…it was a very happy birthday indeed, as long as we kept Noah away from the rides.  Apparently, Noah and adventure rides do not get along.  Not this year anyway.  We’ll try again in a few.

    Happy Birthday to Noah!!!

Thanks to everyone who could make it to Noah’s first birthday party!

After arriving an hour early to claim some picnic tables at the park, we celebrated Noah’s 1st with lots of yummy food, cake, cupcakes, and ice t.  The kiddies ran around and took rides on Miss Hannah’s car, pulled on Elmo, the pinata, and blew bubbles after collecting candy and toys and stuffing themselves with banana cupcakes.  For some, it was their first time meeting Noah, after following the first year of his life on this blog.  For others, they were amazed at how big he’s grown in the last few months since they’d seen him last.  There were friends that couldn’t make it, but we’ll be sure to celebrate with a play date sometime soon!  We’ve posted pictures online here.

Thanks for sharing this very special day with us.  Lots of love to you all!

    The Happy Couple

Took Noah to Bryant and Kim’s wedding last weekend and could barely keep him still.  He even managed to crawl right into the aisle minutes before the procession!  Nevertheless, he managed to look cute (and innocent) as ever.  Here are pics from the rehearsal and wedding day (Oct. 25th).

    Weeee, it’s a plane ride!

Noah took his first plane ride last week, from LA to Seattle to visit his grandparents, uncles, aunts and other family. It was a trip we had been anticipating for a while. Before he left, he got to meet family visiting from Hong Kong, New York and Shanghai too! What a treat! There’s something to be said about the warmth of a large family. I realize how important it is now that we rely on our parents so much for taking care of Noah on a weekly basis when we go to work!

So back to the plane ride…

He impressed us all with his good behavior! I made sure to breastfeed him during take-off and landing to help with popping ears, but as an added precaution, went prepared with enough earplugs to handout in case the bugger went wild. Guess we’ll save them in case he throws a tantrum on the next trip!

Seattle was wet and cold. Anyone could have guessed that! We bundled Noah in layers and layers of fuzzy clothes and fought off harsh winds as best as we could. Thankfully no one got sick on this trip…

Apart from visiting friends and family, Noah got to dress up for not one, but two Chinese New Year Banquets and he looked like a royal prince! So adorable…everyone wanted to give him little red envelopes!

We ended the week with a road trip to Vancouver BC, for a change of scenery. Though new and exciting, Noah got so tired of his car seat by the end of it that we just held him in our laps on the flight home.

Can you believe this little chunk? Three months old and he’s already 16 pounds and then some…

Christmas morning started off like any other day. Wake, feed, change diaper. We had already met up with the family on Christmas Eve, and didn’t have any official plans for the 25th. By noon, after our Tofurkey lunch, we started to feel a bit restless and asked ourselves, “What’s open on Christmas day?” Besides every forum stating that all Chinese food restaurants were open, along with the 7-Elevens, Kwik-E-Marts and gas stations, none of those stops would satisfy our need for a change of scenery. Disneyland was next on the list, then I started to imagine the lines of children pumped up on sugar-plums, candy canes and other sweetened confections, and that idea started to lose its appeal very quickly. Finally, we decided to go for a walk through Griffith Park.

The air was crisp, as the sun started to descend behind the hill. We made sure not to forget Noah’s hat and blanket this time, lest we run into a pediatric nurse or some other presumptuous big mouth who might persecute us for being irresponsible parents. We walked a trail for about an hour, took pictures of our little bear and on our way out of the park, drove through the lamest display of Christmas lights we had ever seen. Besides the ridiculous promotions of Los Angeles utilities, the lights looked as if it was thrown together for a grade school project. There was no depth or relevance to Christmas. I’m glad we didn’t drive all the way over just to see it.

Anyway, that’s about it for Baby’s first Christmas. Happy New Year everyone!!!

The only time I thought I’d ever be subjected to 104 degrees would be as a result of a high fever or sauna heat. There is a reason why saunas have pregnancy warnings and a reason to avoid being sick while incubating a baby…so when Jon convinced me to spend our Labor Day in Escondido, CA at the San Diego Wild Animal Park, I reluctantly obliged. Somehow, I thought if we went past noon, the weather would cool down and I’d be able to withstand the heat. We left the house, thermometer reading 80 degrees and slowly watched the temperature rise up to 86 degrees. Then 99 degrees. Then, a final 104 degrees in the parking lot of the Park . Four hours later, my arms, legs and cheeks were flushed a rosy red, my eyes heavy with exhaustion and my legs buzzing with soreness. But, the good part is, we felt like we definitely got away. Like a mini-vacation to Africa, I guess you couldn’t have asked for anything better on a day off from work. And I survived without fainting, falling or having any unpredictable contractions. Whew.
